Call me curmudgeonly, but I’ve always struggled with “Happy Friday”.
“Happy Friday” says, “Well done, you’ve made it to the end of the week”, as if Monday to Thursday are for survival, not celebration.
“Happy Friday” says, “I’ll introduce this email with an attempt at goodwill but you and I both know it’s a sham.”
“Happy Friday” says, “Everyone else says it and I’m uneasy about differing from the norm.”
I prefer truth and honesty and generosity.
I don’t always succeed. I often fail day after day after day.
But it feels good to try.
Whatever the day.
